In response to the
recent "20/20" segment on television about dental water lines'
implication in causing diseases, we are proud to say that since we
remodeled our office in 1996, we have had no connection for any water
that goes into the mouth with outside tap water. All water that goes
through the dental drills, the water spray, or the hygienists'
ultrasonic scalers is distilled water flowed through a closed system
within the office. These lines themselves are flushed for 12 hours
once a week with a disinfecting cleansing solution to arrest bacterial
build-up. Our two autoclaves use distilled water only (and every
instrument is sterilized after every use, including the handpieces).
This is far above what is presently mandated. We are among only 6% of
all dental offices that take these measures to protect their patients.
We hope that this is reassuring to you as a patient and that you
realize that it is part of our continuing efforts to provide the most
up-to-date service and leading edge treatment available. |
